Lartey Wellness Group Unauthorized Medication Advice
Unauthorized Medication Advice, Scope of Practice Violations, and License Accountability
Purpose
Lartey Wellness Group is committed to ensuring client safety, maintaining full compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, and upholding the highest professional and ethical standards across all jurisdictions in which it operates. Unauthorized medication advice by non-prescribing clinicians presents a significant risk of client injury, regulatory violations, and professional misconduct. This policy establishes a zero-tolerance framework under which such conduct is classified as a serious violation and subject to immediate enforcement.
Scope
This policy applies to all employees, independent contractors, clinicians, therapists, counselors, social workers, case managers, interns, trainees, supervisors, managers, and any non-prescribing personnel affiliated with Lartey Wellness Group, regardless of employment classification, work arrangement, clinical setting, or state of licensure.
Zero Tolerance Standard
Lartey Wellness Group maintains a strict zero tolerance standard for scope of practice violations involving medications. Any act in which a non-prescribing individual provides, suggests, recommends, influences, or directs medication decisions constitutes a serious violation. This includes advising Nurse Practitioners, physicians, physician assistants, other prescribers, or clients to initiate, discontinue, increase, decrease, or otherwise modify medication dosages or regimens. No prior warning, progressive discipline, or corrective action plan is required prior to enforcement.
Scope of Practice and Professional Responsibility
Each clinician and staff member is solely responsible for understanding and complying with the scope of practice defined by their professional license, certification, supervision requirements, and the laws of the state in which services are rendered. Providing medication advice outside one’s authorized scope may constitute the unauthorized practice of medicine or prescribing, unprofessional conduct, and a violation of state licensing board regulations. Such conduct is deemed a serious violation of organizational policy.
Client Safety and Risk of Harm
Unauthorized medication advice creates a substantial and foreseeable risk of adverse drug reactions, medical complications, long-term injury, or death. Lartey Wellness Group considers any conduct that jeopardizes client safety through improper medication guidance to be incompatible with continued employment or engagement.
License Consequences and Individual Accountability
Individuals who engage in unauthorized medication-related conduct acknowledge and understand that their actions may result in investigation, suspension, or permanent revocation of their professional license by applicable state licensing boards. Lartey Wellness Group will not intervene to prevent, delay, mitigate, or challenge licensing board actions arising from such violations. All professional, legal, and regulatory consequences remain the sole responsibility of the individual.
Organizational Non-Accountability and Liability Disclaimer
Lartey Wellness Group expressly states that it will not be held accountable for unauthorized medication advice or pharmacological directives provided by individuals acting outside their licensed scope of practice. Such actions are unauthorized, outside the course and scope of employment or engagement, and undertaken solely at the individual’s discretion. Lartey Wellness Group will not indemnify, defend, reimburse, or assume responsibility for any injuries, damages, regulatory penalties, licensing actions, or legal claims arising from such conduct.
Required Clinical Conduct
When medication-related concerns arise, non-prescribing clinicians are limited to factual observation, documentation, and prompt referral to the assigned licensed prescriber. Clinicians may encourage clients to consult directly with their Nurse Practitioner or prescribing provider but may not provide opinions, recommendations, or guidance regarding medications or dosages. Any deviation from this standard constitutes a serious violation under this policy.
Reporting, Investigation, and Immediate Enforcement
All suspected or confirmed violations must be reported immediately to clinical supervision, Human Resources, or Compliance. Failure to report known violations may itself constitute a serious violation. Lartey Wellness Group reserves the right to impose immediate corrective action, including suspension or termination of employment or contract, without prior notice, where client safety, regulatory compliance, or organizational integrity is implicated.
Condition of Employment and Engagement
Compliance with this Zero Tolerance Serious Violations Policy is a mandatory condition of employment, contract, supervision, and clinical engagement with Lartey Wellness Group. Continued engagement is contingent upon strict adherence to licensure limitations and organizational policies at all times. Ignorance of scope of practice boundaries does not excuse violations.
Conclusion
Lartey Wellness Group’s zero tolerance approach reflects its unwavering commitment to client safety, legal compliance, and professional integrity. Unauthorized medication advice by non-prescribing clinicians is a serious violation that endangers clients, exposes individuals to license loss, and undermines trust in care delivery. Any individual who engages in such conduct does so at their own risk and assumes full personal responsibility for all resulting consequences. Lartey Wellness Group will enforce this policy consistently and decisively and will not be held accountable for actions taken outside authorized professional scope.
